Summer Study Bursary Application
Five scholarships of $200 each are being offered by the NSMEA. Application is open to any music student attending Grade 12 or under in Nova Scotia. Priority will be given to first time applicants. Bursaries are to be used to defray costs at any summer music camp. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
The application must be accompanied by:
- A letter written by the applicant indicating your interests in summer study and your specific needs;
- A letter of recommendation from your music teacher, who is an active member of NSMEA, indicating specific recommendations regarding progress, potential and responsibility. An additional letter from a music teacher who is not a member of NSMEA is also acceptable.
- Your teacher's name, contact information and if they are an NSMEA member.
- If you wish to be considered for the Frances Tyrrell Memorial Summer Study Bursary in addition to the Summer Study Bursary, please detail your leadership qualities and experience in your application letter and indicate that you are applying for this bursary. Frances Tyrrell was a music educator and the Music Supervisor for the former Halifax County-Bedford District School Board. Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate leadership qualities in their involvement with music. The successful applicant will receive an award of $200 to defray the cost of a summer music camp.
Applications must be received no later than May 11.
The successful applicant will be notified before the end of May.
